Our Process
ESTIMATES
Once an onsite walk through of your remodel or new construction project has been completed, we email you a proposal as soon as possible!
PREPARATIONS
After we have a contract and a deposit secured, we order the materials and schedule the delivery. We will also do a preliminary leveling of the stud framing (per request).
INSULATION
Adding Insulation for walls and ceilings prior to Sheetrock install.
LEVEL 1
All the Drywall joints and seams are covered with the tape coat.
LEVEL 2
Application of mud or joint compound over joints, seams, corner metal and screws.
LEVEL 3
After a thorough drying of the level 2 we sand it smooth and re-coat joints, seams, corner metal and screws. For a texture finish this is typically the level at which we would prime and texture.
LEVEL 4
After the level 3 finish is thoroughly dried we do the final sanding followed by any touch up as needed. At American Mud we prefer to do the touch up process after the primer is applied and has dried. This helps to produce a higher level of quality finish.
LEVEL 5
And finally, for a Level 5 smooth wall finish, we do one more skim coat with joint compound over the entire surface area. And after that dries -- you guessed it! -- we sand again.

We use this rate for jobs where we would install 10 sheets of drywall or less. Also we would use this rate for repairing existing walls, such as plaster, old walls or garages.
